G-Strings are a type of underwear made with a thin strip of fabric, leather or PVC. The material strip is used to cover the genitals and the passes between the buttocks. G- String can also mean a swim suit made in the same style. G-Strings are usually worn by women but can also be worn by men.

The word thong can also be used to describe exactly the same thing but Thong is also used to describe other types of attire such as sandals or flip flops etc.

The word G-string started around 1800's where they called the cloth native Americans wore as a G-string, also known as a loin cloth. This type of clothing has been worn for many thousands of years, in native and tribal societies in hot and hot tropical areas where the function was to protect ones modesty as well as protecting the genital and anus from insects etc.

In modern literature the first G-String word was found in Tarzan books where they refer to Tarzan's loincloth as a G-string. Some other authors suggest that the G stands for Groin.

Girlie Goodies are an Australian G-String and naughty underwear business based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
