Carpet Cleaning - By Mark in Brisbane
The best way to keep carpets clean of course, is to prevent dirt getting on to them. To state the obvious where possible don't walk on carpets with muddy or dirty footwear and avoid spilling substances on carpets which will stain them.
There are different types of carpet spills and different ways they should be treated after spilling liquids or mess onto them.
Where possible use the mildest cleaning products on your carpets, avoid using iron or hot steam to clean your carpet where possible. For mould and mildew you can use a non-chlorine bleach, but never use a chlorine based product for cleaning carpets in any circumstances. Other ways to clean carpets are lemon juice, diluted hydrogen peroxide solution. Always test a corner, or less visible part of the carpet to ensure the chemicals you are using for cleaning do not damage or bleach the carpet beyond repair. All seasons carpet cleaning are a Brisbane carpet cleaning company they offer some useful advice on their website outlining some of the detergents to use as first aid for carpet spills.
Using just water on spills is good first aid for carpets, try to soak as much of the spill up using a dry sponge before adding and water or liquids to the carpet spill.
When blotting up spills do not use excess of liquid detergent, start from the outside of the spill and blot up and clean towards the centre of the spill. This should prevent the spill soaking outwards and damaging the carpet over a larger area.
